Did you know... according to Gartner, employees now prioritize purpose in their work over financial compensation, with meaningful workplaces yielding greater employee retention and engagement. McKinsey suggests that 70% of employees feel their sense of purpose is defined by work, and research cited by Harvard Business Review reveals that 90% of employees say work should be meaningful, yet only 15% experience this sense of purpose. Employees who do find their work meaningful are less likely to leave their jobs, even when offered higher salaries elsewhere according to American Psychological Association.
Even a casual observer could tell you that nowadays, most employees seem to be distracted and mentally closed-off from work, as opposed to centered and open-minded. This is especially problematic for leaders and consultants who are expected to steward change at a time when over 60% of employees already suffer from change fatigue, according to Deloitte.
Helping employees understand and establish a headspace marked by greater presence and purpose is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Our free, psychometrically validated assessment provides a baseline and customized set of developmental recommendations to help your leaders, systems, structures, and culture transform presence and purpose at work. It even won an award, presented at the 2024 Academy of Management Conference!

What is your Headspace?
In a nutshell, headspace is a dynamic concept that integrates two aspects of work-life shown to influence our own well-being and the prosperity of teams and organizations we are part of. The first aspect is Presence, the degree to which we are regularly mindful and aware of what is happening around us. The second aspect is Purpose, the type of meaning we assign to our work, which can range from everyday practical meaning to more profound meaning.
When presence and purpose are combined, employees fall into one of four different headspaces (Yearning, Habituating, Transforming, and Transcending) that have a different impact on how we are seen, understood, and even misunderstood by colleagues. Headspace impacts our relationships, strategic creativity, problem-solving abilities, team cohesion, and overall performance. At the deepest level, headspace changes the nature of questions we ask about ourselves, our teams, and our organizations, which can have a profound impact on how well we navigate change.
